The AirSkirts Small RV Inflatable Skirt is designed for your RV ranging in length from 16 to 24 feet (per the manufacturer's specifications) and is perfect for nearly all makes and models due to AirSkirts' unique modular options. This kit weighs approximately 50 pounds, with the largest component weighing 9 pounds.

Standard clearance kits are appropriate for RVs that sit lower than 21" off the ground. To determine which kit is right for you, simply check your ground clearance at the highest point. If it varies quite a bit, you'll need the customized kit.

The AirSkirts welcome kit includes everything you need to get started with your new AirSkirts RV skirt, including the owner's manual which guides you through all of the important stuff you'll need to know to set up your kit and care for it. Be sure to read it thoroughly and watch these setup videos as well.

Additional accessories, such as tire wedges, tire covers, and stair pillows are not included. Purchasing tire covers is suggested if you have a dual axle, and adding tire wedges if you camp in extreme cold temps. You'll only need a stair pillow if your steps pull down from underneath the chassis of the RV.

What's Included In This Kit

1 × Carry and Storage Bag

This durable storage bag fits your entire AirSkirts kit with room for extra materials. This bag is included in our kits, but you can also buy a la carte if designing your own setup. Made of thick PVC with double stitched carry straps, it will last as long as your skirt (which is a long, long time). When you're ready to break down your skirt, just deflate and fold your tubes and place them into the bag. We recommend placing the bag in the area you intend to store it prior to loading. The bag measures 30 inches by 20 inches by 20 inches. With most kits, you'll have plenty of space for extra items. Larger kits come with multiple bags.

1 x Electric Air Pump AC 800W

The 800W electric air pump connects to the inflate / deflate valves of your tubes and tire wedges to rapidly inflate or deflate your AirSkirts setup.

2 x Skirt Tube - 8 Feet, Standard (22")

The Skirt Tube is the is the most essential building block of your AirSkirts setup. Depending on your configuration, you may require these tube in an 2, 4, 6, or 8 foot lengths. Our pre-configured packages are perfect for nearly all setups but you can also buy tubes individually. Each tube is constructed with super-durable PVC Tarpaulin and heat welded to withstand years and years of use. All of our inflatables are similar in construction to military-grade inflatable watercraft and feature HC inflate / deflate valves. A 0.7PSI pressure release valve also prevents accidental over-inflation. Our skirt tubes also feature welded D rings on both ends so you have the option of securing them together. Tubes weigh 4-14 pounds, so they're easy to handle.

RV Skirting in Summer: Does it Help Keep My Camper Cool?

Most people who have used an RV for any length of time are familiar with a skirt. For those who may not know, an RV skirt is something placed around the base of your travel trailer, fifth wheel, or coach to protect the underside and provide insulation. The reason most people think to use skirting is to keep their pipes from freezing since RV floors are typically not well insulated. One thing that's heard most often from AirSkirts customers is, “my feet were warmer the first night!” What about summer though, is it worth skirting in warm weather? Does it help keep my camper cold? Let’s dig into these questions a bit.

Should I skirt my RV in the summer?

Yes, you should skirt your RV in the summer, during warm weather to 1) help you keep your interior cooler, 2) save on energy costs, and 3) reduce wear and tear on your A/C.

RV skirts will help save on energy costs and prevent your AC from working so hard by holding the cold air that sinks through the floor in place and preventing the warm air from reflecting off the ground/pavement into your underbelly. By preventing the hot air from going underneath and the colder air from being whisked away, your environment will stay cooler, so your AC won’t be running constantly or cycling on as frequently. Energy use and A/C maintenance can be a burden for summer campers and the cost of electricity is always increasing. The average life expectancy of an RV air conditioner is about three to five years and the cost to replace one averages $1100-$2100 and can be upwards of $3000, depending on the model. Given that most rigs have two or more, this can be quite pricey.

The way AirSkirts works so well is the two thick layers of PVC coated canvas provide great insulation, plus they’re backed up by a large cushion of trapped air. These layers hold in the air that leaks through the floor of your RV. Skirting actually turns the poorly insulated floors of most RVs into a benefit. Or if you have a “four season” camper, the heated tanks will help keep the entire underbelly much warmer, protecting your pipes, saving energy, and keeping you more comfortable.

And because AirSkirts only takes about 20-30 minutes to set up and break down, it makes sense even for weekend trips.

How to Determine Which Kit Size You Need

Our kits are sold exclusively based on two factors – a) the overall length of your RV and b) how high your RV sits off the ground (ground clearance).

Length

Kit lengths are based on the manufacturer stated length – this includes the hitch, bumper, and fifth wheel tongue (even though these areas may not be skirted) and can be found by simply looking at the specs for your RV.

Ground Clearance

Ground clearance refers to the amount of space between the earth and your trailer. The clearance is measured from the ground to the low point on the underside of the trailer that the tube will press against. If your trailer is on uneven ground, measure the highest point. For trailer with flat bottoms, measure to the bottom of the trailer. If your trailer has an exposed I-Beam, measure to the base of the I-Beam.

Our tubes come in two diameters:

• Standard – 22″ diameter, suitable for ground clearance up to 20″
• High – 34″ diameter, suitable for ground clearance up to 32″

Simply measure to the flat underside of your RV or, if your RV have an I-beam construction, to the I-Beam. Be sure to measure to the underside of the RV, not the fender skirting as the tubes should sit mostly flush with the body of the RV.
